Nazareth Academy is a Catholic, Coed, College Prep High School inspired by the mission and spirituality of the Congregation of Saint Joseph. We are committed to academic excellence, educating the whole person and fostering a community of inclusivity rooted in Gospel values. Above all we value Scholarship, Service, Spirit and Unity.

A brief history

Nazareth Academy, a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school in La Grange Park, Illinois, is among the oldest educational institutions in Chicago’s western suburbs. It was established by a pioneering group of Sisters of St. Joseph who came to the La Grange area in 1899. Their first school, with an enrollment of fourteen, was in a remodeled six-room house. A school building was constructed in 1901 and an addition to it in 1949. Until 1963, the school enrolled both resident and day students. After selling its buildings in 1974 to the public school district for a junior high school, Nazareth moved its operations to its current location, 1209 West Ogden Avenue. The high school became coeducational in 1977, and today serves approximately 800 young women and men from an area approximately 25 miles long and 10 miles wide in Cook and Du Page counties.

The campus has flourished over the years to now include state of the art facilities for student learning and the development of the whole person. The school’s Alexine Chapel, STEM lab, theatre, artificially turfed fields and 1:1 iPad program reflect the constant attention to addressing student needs and furthering their God-given potential.

Relationships with our Sisters remain the cornerstone of who we are today. Our students continue to benefit from their presence and meaningful interactions through extra-curricular clubs, service activities and worship. At every turn, we are reminded of our shared mission of unity and desire to serve the dear neighbor……recognizing all creation as of God and connected through God.
