About Us

St. Joseph Education Ministries (SJEM) is a Catholic sponsor in education that works as a bridge between the Catholic Church and its sponsored Catholic institutions.

When a Catholic educational institution finds itself in a time of transition in their Catholic sponsorship, SJEM can provide sponsorship and does so in the spiritual tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ’s). With five founding institutions in the CSJ St. Louis Province, SJEM embarked on building lay leaders in collaboration with the CSJ’s to develop sponsorship processes that seek to ensure the Catholicity of each institution and to further encourage their mission into the future.

SJEM is a pioneering organization because of a prophetic vision lived into the world by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Through the relationship between SJEM and its sponsored schools, the legacy of founding congregations are lived into the future and continue to enrich the national landscape of Catholic education. The hallmark of an SJEM sponsored education is that graduates of their institutions embark into the world with a sense of service, justice, compassion and faith, culminating in the mission and vision of the Sisters, to live and work so that all are unified through love with God and one another.

“At St. Teresa’s Academy, we are proud of and encouraged by our affiliation with St. Joseph Educational Ministries, a supportive ally in our mission. SJEM is an important resource in helping our school to flourish, as we maintain fidelity to our Catholic identity and the vision and values of our founding Sisters of St. Joseph.”

Dr. Siabhan May-Washington, President, St. Teresa’s Academy
