Dear Partners, Leaders, and Friends in Mission,
As we celebrate Founders’ Day during the month of October, I am reminded of how deeply grateful I am for the dear Sisters of St. Joseph. They have played significant roles in my life that have done so much for me: expanded my capacity to love others, challenged me to seek justice, and educated my mind to think critically about the world and how to best serve it. The Sisters of St. Joseph have also offered me compassion and caring when I have been most in need of wholeness.
The founding sisters offered a vision for women to live bravely and boldly in relationship with others so that all may know the love of God more meaningfully, hence drawing all peoples together through and with our compassionate God.
Through a CSJ education, we participate in providing that vision for all leaders and learners to come. Each October gives us an opportunity to celebrate all our CSJ’s who have invited us into that vision and into a life that seeks to emulate what those founding sisters desired in a love of God and others without distinction.
As courageously as the CSJ community continues to live, evidenced by the founding of SJEM, may all of us also walk bravely into each day with the desire, intention, and acts of service that provide our world a sense of unifying love.
With kindness,
Cara McMahon
