Dave Armstrong

Director of Mission and Ministry at Avila University

Dave Armstrong

Dave has been connected with the CSJs since becoming Director of Mission and Ministry in 2002 at Avila University in Kansas City, MO. He became an CSJ associate in May of 2007, and has been an associate leader encouraging and training others to be part of the CSJ lay organization. He has served on the advisory board for the CSJ justice office. Dave was  honored as a Generosity of Joseph recipient in 2016. He developed a program for students to discover the charism within their own lives through the 1650 Society.  He co-founded, with Sr. Rose McLarney CSJ, a local non-profit called Jerusalem Farm that reaches out to the dear neighbor in need in Kansas City.

Connection to the CSJs and their ministries

As mentioned above, Dave’s job at Avila University and co-founder of Jerusalem Farm has been inspired by the charism of the CSJs. Currently he also serves on the Board of Directors at the Don Bosco Centers, an organization providing a welcoming community for many elderly individuals in Kansas City’s historic Northeast neighborhood. Don Bosco also provides English as an alternative language for more than 1,000 refugees every year. The Sisters of St. Joseph generously support the Don Bosco Centers through the Tabitha Grant.
