Barbara McCormick

Academic Principal at St. Teresa’s Academy

Barbara McCormick

Barb earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and quickly went on to earn her master’s degree in administration. Her technology skills grew steadily allowing her to become an adjunct instructor for Washburn University for preservice teachers and a technology facilitator for the school district. Barb later served as principal of Our Lady of Peace School in Kansas City, MO.

Sister Patty Clune, CSJ, was instrumental in her applying for and accepting the position of Academic Principal role in 2009 at St. Teresa’s Academy, a CSJ sponsored school. As principal, she has devoted time to the CSJ campers program, new employee formation, CSJA meetings, student trips to Le Puy and CSSJ annual school leaders conference. Each day she contemplates the saying of St. Teresa of Avila, “With the help of God. We need not fear” as it guides her to follow the charism of the CSJ’s.

Connection to CSJs and their ministries:

As Barb experienced change in her professional life, she also experienced change in her spiritual life and became a CSJ Associate in 2015. Sister Ruth Stuckel was her mentor during the formation program and has remained a dear colleague. Barb is honored to be a member of the CSJA community and contributing to the Sisters’ charism of “unifying love” as she serves the dear neighbor in all that she does.
